In the know: The Power of Knowledge symposium; Leadership, Fear and “Not happening here” syndrome
In the know is a regular roundup of knowledge management (KM) topics of discussion and the articles, events, videos, and podcasts that are grabbing the attention of KM experts across our community.
The Power of Knowledge symposium
The KIT Royal Tropical Institute is hosting the Power of Knowledge symposium, a one day event on 1 September 2022 on inclusive and fair knowledge partnerships. The symposium is being co-hosted with the Asfari Institute in Lebanon and EthiXpert in South Africa.
The event will be held in Amsterdam, Beirut and Johannesburg. You are welcome to join at a location closest to you or online (access to the plenary session in the morning only).
The symposium will bring together representatives from national and international governments, policy organisations, think tanks, philanthropic organisations, corporations, and non-governmental organisations from around the globe. Together, participants will examine how the North-South paradigm shapes the flow of knowledge adversely and how we can effectively move away from an imbalanced structure towards a more equitable one by creating equitable partnerships.
Leadership, Fear and “Not happening here” syndrome
In a LinkedIn post, RealKM Silver Patron Stuart French offers some thoughts on leadership and the courage it takes to acknowledge problems, after hearing the sad news of the passing of James Ephraim Lovelock (1919-2022), one of the great thinkers of the last two centuries.
