Dean of Libraries and Vice President for Information Technology, Colorado State University

As Vice President for Information Technology and Dean of Libraries, Dr. Burns administers various areas of shared concern in Colorado State University’s distributed computing environment, and leads efforts to provide a wide range of resources to support teaching, learning, and a healthy information culture at CSU’s Morgan Library. A faculty member at Colorado State since 1978, Pat has performed research and teaching in Mechanical Engineering and has focused on areas of Supercomputing, including serving as the Coordinator of Supercomputing, and participating as a co-Principal Investigator on a National Science Foundation grant to CSU and CU for the HPC system called Summit, that will be housed at CU Boulder.

Pat also heads CSU’s Information Science & Technology Center (ISTeC), chairs the Information Technology Executive Committee Advisory Council, engages with students by participating on the University Technology Fee Advisory Board (UTFAB), as well as serves as an advisor to the University Facility Fee Advisory Board (UFFAB). Additionally, Pat administratively oversees a wide range of departments at CSU that provide critical computing, data, networking, and telephony to the university and the Fort Collins and Colorado community as well. Dr. Burns reports to the Provost and Executive Vice President of Colorado State University.
