The state of the Knowledge Management for Development (KM4Dev) community in 2024

This annual review highlights key issues and activities within the Knowledge for Development (KM4Dev) community in 2024. KM4Dev is a global community of practice of more than 1000 international development practitioners, researchers, consultants, and policymakers.

The review showcases how the KM4Dev community continues to provide value to its members, driving transformation in knowledge management (KM) practices to address opportunities and challenges. Efforts span individual, collective, local, national, regional, and global levels, reinforcing the community’s broad and meaningful impact. These achievements will be further celebrated this year in KM4Dev’s 25th anniversary ’25 years together’ campaign, which is introduced at the end of the review.

Published as a Community Note1 in the new issue of Knowledge Management for Development (KM4D) Journal, the review also highlights the importance of strong research-practice links in KM for effective and sustainable outcomes to be achieved. KM4D Journal celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
