What might the next emoji look like?

Emoji – those small, often yellow-faced icons – are becoming increasingly important in conveying emotion and meaning in social media and digital messaging. The Unicode Consortium, whose specifications and data enable people around the world to use computers in any language, has accepted 38 new emoji to be included in its mid-2016 update. How some of these new emoji might look, including interesting additions such as the face palm and selfie, is explored in this article.
